Formal and informal separation by gender and how it narrows opportunity and creates barriers to interprofessional collaboration
This symposium explored the roots of gender segregation in healthcare and its impact on individual achievement and care quality. It examined how early socialization and entrenched stereotypes contributed to gendered career paths and pay gaps, particularly within the medical hierarchy. The event addressed barriers to male-female collaboration and emphasized strategies to promote gender diversity, enhance team communication, and improve patient outcomes through more equitable interprofessional collaboration.
